"Lost Baby" photosculptures, and so much more.
A grieving mother would love to place her stillborn's photo on the mantle with her other children's portraits. But family and friends often nix the idea. It makes them profoundly uncomfortable. That's why I created a "Lost Baby" sculpture for Ruth B when her little daughter died as a newborn.
You see, making a healing dreamscape into a photo sculpture not only validates Ruth's feelings of loss, but it also is teaching her family and friends a little etiquette about how to talk to grieving parents. As an art piece, it encourages people to start simple conversations about her little girl: how beautiful her dress was, or to ask what was her name.
One of the great masters of photo sculpture is my good friend Al Stewart of Photocutouts.com. He is passionate about good work and good deeds. Al takes the image file of your photomontage- which I upload to his site- and prints it on a dye-sublimation printer. This technique not only produces the highest image quality, it also protects the print with a heat-applied clear coat, making it water-resistant and protecting it from UV light damage. Next he cuts the form in the most intriguing way possible for the greatest visual effect.
- Shop first at Photocutouts. Go to my friend Al Stewart at Photocutouts.com and order a photo cutout, or POPout before I make your healing dreamscape. They're dramatic little sculptures, mounted on 1/4" thick oak or 3/16" thick acrylic.
- Next, let's create your photomontage. Once you decide on a cutout or a POPout, I'll create a healing dreamscape that really shows off their 3D effects. Photocutouts will give you an order number, and you'll give that order number to me when I later upload your image file to Photocutouts.com.
There are two costs involved with photo sculptures: the cost of the cutout (paid to Photocutouts) and the cost of the photomontage (paid to Art For Your Sake). Prices for Al's photo cutouts and POPouts (where the subjects "pop" out from the background as they are constructed in two layers) start at $22.45.
Special Tip: Afraid you'll forget to send me photos in time? Send yourself a RemindMe email. It's absolutely free and easy to set up. Not sure you really need it? Just press the cancel key.
Payment. Once we agree on a rough estimate of images for your photomontage - and before I begin work - I'll email you an invoice with a payment button that allows you to instantly pay with your credit card via PayPal. Later on- should we add additional images- I'll simply invoice you again for the balance. Paying in installments is perfectly fine with me.
Delivery: Your photocutout is sent Priority Mail (for free, I might add) within 10 business days of payment receipt. And usually, Al ships in 4 or 5 days! Meanwhile, in addition to returning all your original materials and an 8x10 glossy or luster print of your photomontage, I send you a CD containing all scanned images including the image file of the photomontage. These image files are provided as my gift (word-of-mouth is my best form of advertising). This package will arrive in 2-3 days via Priority Mail (included in my price, unless weight exceeds 1 lb.).

Al Stewart does a bang-up job turning my photomontages into 3-D sculpture. The smallest photo sculptures stand 4-6" tall and can be used as a cake topper, a table decoration or an ornament. The larger ones look great on a desk, or hung on a wall.
